Bio |
Richard Franklin has played the guitar for 45 years. His training was in classical guitar. His primary teachers were Carlos Barbosa Lima and Sophocles Papas - both students of Andres Segovia. He holds Bachelors and Masters degrees in classic guitar performance from Carnegie-Mellon University and won a number of performance competitions on classic guitar. However, it was popular music in general and the Beatles in particular that inspired Richard to take up the guitar in the early 1960s. He has been at it ever since.
In keeping with his eclectic interests and background, Richard has successfully performed in virtually every type of
musical situation: recital, concerto, concerts, clubs, recording studio, orchestra pit, solo and ensemble.
He is a member of ASCAP (American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers), and his jazz compositions and recordings have been featured on radio, satellite and Internet stations in the USA and around the world. He has released over a dozen CDs which have been purchased and downloaded from iTunes and other online music sites by jazz-lovers all over the world.
